Her heroines are equally strange, from a human girl stolen by a galactic empire to save their planet to a poor peasant girl whose love for an alien creature may save her race from annihilation.

Her worlds spring from wherever her stories come from fully formed, and include a dangerous zone where slices of alternate realities converge, and fantastic lands where killing is forbidden and suffering is unknown, in The Broken World series. In all her stories, there’s a thread of romance that leads to a love story, but that’s only a small part of the tale.
